Lagerstroemia

Situated on an elevated corner block in Glenmore Park, this home presented the classic challenge of a sloping site — but with the reward of stunning natural bushland views to draw from.

The front of the property required thoughtful design to create welcoming, functional access to the home. A large tiered wall using 2m sandstone logs establishes a level lawn just outside the front entry, complete with a small sitting area - the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee while taking in the bushland beyond. The tiered walls also carve out a generous garden bed between them, softening the bold golden tones of the sandstone walling with lush planting.

An oversized staircase, lit with 12-volt low-voltage garden lights and tiled in Latte Travertine, draws guests up to the front door with generous landings both mid-flight and at the top. The wide double driveway received careful attention too, with grade changes and angle transitions thoughtfully resolved to suit a low-profile vehicle.

The backyard was levelled with further sandstone log retaining walls, incorporating a built-in firepit space. Pebble and stepping stone access paths wind right around the home, connecting through to the veggie gardens and clothesline. The level rear lawn flows easily from the alfresco area, creating a relaxed and functional entertaining space.

A repurposed urn converted into a water feature adds the gentle sound of trickling water to the garden, while 12-volt low-voltage lighting throughout brings the entire landscape to life after dark.
