The client brief was to transform a very plain sloping back lawn into a functional, usable space with the main focus drawing on the bush backdrop whilst making the lawn and garden manageable. We considered multiple design options to create a large outdoor paved zone for relaxed dining or fire pit space.

Surrounded by our signature sandstone retaining walls with sawn stone capping, the seating area takes full advantage of the view into the natural bush beyond the rear fence.

With the retaining walls in place we were able to achieve a large flat lawn which is very easy to maintain. Raised about the walls the lawn softens and contrasts the harder surface around the outdoor paved seating area.

A deck platform provided the client with a usable clothes drying area and linked back to the main paved area with a stepping stone path. This path passes by the large water feature urn which is positioned centre of the undercover alfresco area, providing beautiful ambient sounds as the water trickles over the edge and bubbles into the lower pond.

The gardens were designed directly with the clients in mind and their lifestyle. They are very keen gardeners and extremely house proud. The planting scheme provided an abundance of colour and texture including layers of a variety of exotic plants.

This striking garden was further enhanced by the use of low voltage lighting throughout, which really brought this garden to life at night, perfect for entertaining.

The use of lighting gave us the opportunity to enhance some special features within the garden including the water feature.

The absolute best part about this project was how much the clients love it... they talk about the joy they have for the garden and being able to share this space with their friends and family.
